Fraud Alert: Resident Reports Phone Scam in Steuben County

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): This afternoon, a resident reported that they received a phone call from a person claiming he worked for the Steuben County Emergency Management. He then proceeded to say, they were seeking funding for the Emergency Management department.   

EMA Director Kristy Clawson confirmed that her office did not authorize any agency to solicit funds and the phone call was a scam. If you receive a phone call like this, do not give money or any personal information to the solicitor and contact your local police.
