Freeway Shooting Kills One

Police say a man was fatally shot along northwestern Indiana’s Borman Expressway when another driver pulled up alongside his car and opened fire.

The Lake County coroner’s office says 43-year-old Tyron Hopkins was pronounced dead early Friday at the Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary.

The Times of Munster reports that Hopkins’ cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head suffered in an apparent homicide.

State Police said Hopkins was driving on a ramp to eastbound Interstate 94 about 10:40 p.m. Thursday when another driver pulled up alongside him, fired a weapon and fled.
