Fremont sex offender turns himself in for failing to register

ANGOLA, Ind. (WOWO): A Fremont sex offender turned himself in Sunday for failing to register as a sex or violent offender.

Dale R. Shaeffer, 61, surrendered himself at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Steuben Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for Shaeffer earlier this month. He was charged with one count of failing to register as a sex or violent offender, a level 6 felony, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department.

He was booked into the Steuben County Jail and then posted 10 percent of a $5,000 cash bond.

He was released.
