Gary police questioning 2 in killing of boy, 13

GARY, Ind. (AP): Gary police questioned two people in the death of a 13-year-old boy allegedly shot by a neighbor who became enraged when the boy laughed at him after his house was burglarized.

Cpl. Gabrielle King said Saturday afternoon police were holding a 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman at the city jail as persons of interest in Kobe Jones' killing.

King says police are withholding the two individuals' names because so far they have not been charged and the investigation is ongoing.

Lt. Thomas Pawlak tells the Post-Tribune that Jones was pronounced dead Friday evening near his Gary home from multiple gunshot wounds.

Pawlak says a neighbor shot Jones nine times after the teen laughed at him as the man yelled in anger after discovering his home had been burglarized.
