Good Samaritan May Have Saved Driver’s Life

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  A man trying to pass a vehicle on US 20 narrowly avoided a head-on collision with a semi and may have been saved by a good Samaritan.

Around 9:57 a.m. Saturday morning, 25 year old Brock J. Thompson of Angola was driving west bound on US 20 between Steuben Co. Roads 850E and 935E.  He attempted to pass a vehicle with his 2004 Dodge Stratus, but didn't see 57 year old Leonard L. Hutchison of Edon, Ohio in the east bound lane.  Hutchison was in his semi pulling an empty flat-bed trailer.

The two vehicles nearly struck head-on.  Hutchison was not injured, however Thompson sustained serious injuries to his head and lower body.  Rushing to Thompson's aid was a nearby student nurse and they provided first aid.  Police say it helped saved Thompson's life.

He was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center.  The crash is under investigation.
