Goshen Ranks 3rd Among U.S. Cities Where Poverty is Soaring

GOSHEN, Ind. (WOWO): Goshen has appeared near the top of an online list of the nation's cities where poverty is soaring.

The list, by 24-7 Wall Street, was released this week by Yahoo Homes. It states that the poverty level remains “stubbornly high” despite the signs of economic recovery.

Goshen ranked third in the U.S. among cities where poverty is soaring. It states the Maple City had a poverty increase of 13.3 percentage points, with a three-year poverty rate of 27 percent. It says the median household income in Goshen in just over $38,000, and that unemployment doubled between 2007 and 2012 from 4.5 to 9 percent.
