Groups Prepare to Enroll Ohioans in Health Plans

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP): Ohioans seeking coverage under the federal health care law can soon set up appointments with local counselors to help walk them through the process in person.

Health care advocates including Get Covered America Ohio announced plans Thursday for a website they say will serve as a scheduling tool to make it easier for people to get assistance next month. They say consumers who got help in person were more likely to enroll than those who didn't.

Ohio is one of 36 states using the federal website, HealthCare.gov. Open enrollment starts Nov. 15.

Trey Daly of Get Covered America Ohio says the organization aims to have the scheduling site ready by Nov. 1. He says consumers can then go online to request an appointment from one of roughly 250 helpers.
