FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A local animal wellness clinic is offering free vaccines for pets of military veterans.

H.O.P.E. of Animals is offering military personnel free rabies and distemper vaccines for their dogs and cats. The event is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at H.O.P.E. for Animals, 1333 Maycrest Drive.

“This clinic means a lot to me,” H.O.P.E. fo Animals Community Outreach Coordinator Tyna Reiter said. “A few of my own family members have served this country, and I know that for many veterans their animals are much more than just pets. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to financially provide for the animals we love. We know that for some veterans, their pets are what they rely on every day.”

Appointments aren’t necessary, but vaccines will only be available to the first 200 dogs and cats.
