Hanna Street stabbing leads to 23-year prison sentence for Angola man

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An Angola man was sentenced to 23 years in prison after admitting he stabbed another man to death in August 2015, our news partners 21Alive reported.

Jeremy Coney, 31, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in February. He said he was “acting in sudden heat” when he stabbed 37-year-old Donald B. Jacquay to death.

the stabbing happened inside Jacquay’s apartment in the 3400 block of Hanna Street in Fort Wayne.

An Allen Superior Court judge ordered him to serve 25 years in prison Monday morning, but two years were suspended. He was also sentenced to two years probation, according to 21Alive.

Coney was originally charged with murder, felony murder and robbery in connection to the stabbing, but those charges were dropped.
