Horse Waste Creates Big Stink in LaGrange County

LaGRANGE, Ind. (WOWO): Some LaGrange County residents are concerned about horse waste.

That's causing a big stink. Some  residents want the county to adopt an ordinance that would require Amish buggies to have a system that would collect the manure – something like a bag on the horse or buggy to keep it from plopping on the road.

More than 1,600 people signed petitions asking commissioners to review the would-be change. Most of those coming from non-Amish residents in Shipshewana and Topeka.

Commissioners tabled the proposal earlier this week. Some hope it can spur a committee of supporters and opponents to reach a solution.
