House Approves Drug Abuse Screenings For Welfare Applicants

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) — The house voted Monday 78-17 to approve a proposal that would screen Temporary Assistant for Needy Families program applicants for potential signs drug abuse.

The written screening test would identify whether the applicant was a possible drug abuser and those that were deemed as such would then have to complete a drug test. Those that test positive for drugs would then have to participate in a treatment program to continue to get their benefits.
