Huq to be Sentenced Monday

ANGOLA, Ind. (WOWO): An international fugitive who fled the country following a 1989 murder in Steuben County will be sentenced Monday.

Forty-seven year old Mahfuz Hug pleaded guilty in November to voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of Todd Kelley at Hamilton Lake in August of 1989. Under the plea deal, original charges of intimidation and murder will be dropped. 


He could be sentence up to 50 years.  

Huq was captured in 2011 in India. It’s believed he was living Bangladesh under an alias. The case was featured on national television.
