Ice Flying Off Truck Injures Warsaw Motorist

NEW PARIS, Ind. (AP): Authorities say a northern Indiana man has been hospitalized after a sheet of ice and snow fell from a passing semitrailer and crashed through his windshield.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says 38-year-old John Hollon of Warsaw was driving a box truck eastbound on U.S. 6 near the town of New Paris on Thursday morning when the snow and ice broke off of a westbound truck and flew through his windshield.

The sheriff's department says Hollon was taken to IU Health Goshen with several lacerations to his face and a possible concussion.

The Elkhart Truth reports no citations were issued at the scene.
