INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The new top federal prosecutor for central and southern Indiana has no idea how long he'll be in the job.
Josh Minkler became the acting U.S. attorney in Indianapolis last month, but the length of his tenure depends on the workings of the president and Congress. U.S. attorneys must be nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate. That process often takes months or years.
Minkler was head of the office's drug and violent crime unit, and he still sees that and public corruption as top priorities.
Those are the same priorities set by predecessor Joe Hogsett, who resigned as U.S. attorney in July amid talk of a run for Indianapolis mayor.
Minkler says he sees no reason to change them.
