NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana health officials are investigating why at least eight residents of an eastern Indiana county have contracted the same type of rare brain cancer.

WRTV reports (http://bit.ly/1Dvkwzp ) at least eight people in Henry County have been diagnosed with glioblastoma, including two who live next door to each other and another who lives about a mile away.

Indiana State Department of Health spokeswoman Amanda Turney says the agency takes reports of a suspected cancer cluster seriously and will conduct an analysis of the cancer cases reported in the area.

There are 12,000 to 15,000 cases of glioblastoma diagnosed in the U.S. each year. That's a fraction of diagnosed breast and prostate cancers.
