LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Vehicles from Subaru's Lafayette factory will make up the caravan traveling around Indiana for next year's Bicentennial Torch Relay.
Subaru of Indiana Automotive executives joined Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann for the announcement Wednesday that the company would provide 10 vehicles to escort the torch and transport personnel and equipment on the planned 2,300-mile route.
The torch relay marking Indiana's 200th anniversary of statehood in 2016 is planned to pass through all 92 Indiana counties over a 5-week period next September and October. The route will begin at the first Indiana state capital in Corydon, and end at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
The Indiana Office of Tourism Development is accepting nominations from the public for the more than 1,800 torchbearer spots.
