Indiana Man Found Dead in Steel Maker’s Elevator Shaft

BURNS HARBOR, Ind. (AP) – The Porter County coroner says a Schererville man was found dead in an elevator shaft at steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal in Burns Harbor.

Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris says a coworker found 53-year-old Gregory J. Sebahar on Sunday after Sebahar didn't respond to his radio. The (Munster) Times reports an autopsy was expected Monday.

ArcelorMittal spokeswoman Mary Beth Holdford said Sebahar was an independent contractor with KONE Elevators and Escalators. She offered the company's sympathies and said ArcelorMittal's priority is “the health and safety of our employees and contractors.”
