WASHINGTON, DC (WOWO) Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan now rank among the states with the highest rates of adult obesity in the country, according to a new federal health analysis.

The report, using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shows nearly 38 percent of adults in Indiana are classified as obese. Ohio and Michigan follow closely, with about 36 percent and 35 percent of adults affected, respectively.

The numbers highlight a regional trend in the Midwest, where obesity rates remain higher than the national average. Experts note that diet, lifestyle, and limited access to health care are key factors contributing to these rates.

By comparison, Colorado continues to report the lowest adult obesity rate in the nation at 25 percent. Health officials say the data underscores ongoing public health challenges across the Midwest and calls for targeted prevention and treatment programs.
