INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indiana State Police and other law enforcement agencies will be collecting leftover, expired or unwanted prescription drugs later this month to prevent theft and abuse.

Hoosiers with unwanted or expired prescription drugs can turn them in anonymously at most state police posts and several other sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 29. Only pills and liquid drugs will be accepted.

The drive is part of a nationwide effort by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

During the last Prescription Drug Take Back initiative in April, Indiana residents turned in more than 1,500 pounds of unwanted medicines to be disposed of by state police.
