INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Police throughout Indiana will conduct high-visibility patrols aimed at stopping aggressive drivers and those driving under the influence.

State police say more than 250 Indiana law enforcement agencies will take part in the crackdown that runs through March 27. The statewide effort is being supported by federal funding allocated to state police from the traffic safety division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

Police urge people who plan to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or the NCAA basketball tournament to plan a safe way home before celebrating. They also urge those who drink to use a taxi, public transportation, ridesharing service or designate a sober friend or family member to get them home.

They also urge those who see a drunken driver on the road to call 911.
