Indiana State Fair Attendance Tops 900,000

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ This year's Indiana State Fair is expected to go down in the books as one of the five most attended ever.

Fair spokesman Andy Klotz tells WISH-TV (http://bit.ly/XsRkFC ) that Sunday's admissions helped push this year's total attendance past 900,000 for its 17-day run.

Klotz says that rain showers in Indianapolis did not deter fairgoers. He says as long as the fair doesn't get an all-day washout, then officials expect to have good attendance, and that's what has happened this year.

Klotz says temperatures are a lot more important than “a little bit of rain here and there,'' and this year's fair weather has been cooler than normal.

Cool and dry weather helped last year's fair set an attendance record of more than 978,000 people.
