Indiana torch relay to pass through 260 cities, towns

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana tourism officials have released the route the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay will take this fall.

The Office of Tourism Development says the relay will start in Corydon in southern Indiana on Sept. 9 and travel more than 3,200 miles as nearly 2,000 torchbearers will carry it through each of Indiana’s 92 counties. The route showcases locations of natural beauty, local interest and historic significance.

The relay will go through 260 Indiana cities and towns, 17 state and national parks, including Indiana Dunes, Turkey Run, Falls of the Ohio and Abraham Lincoln’s Boyhood Home. It will go past 27 national, state and local sites of historic significance including the Levi Coffin House and Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site.

The relay will end with at the Indiana Statehouse on Oct. 15.
