Indiana Trooper Injured in Crash Along I-70

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indiana State Police say a state trooper was injured when a car slid on snow-covered Interstate 70 and plowed into his patrol car while he was helping a stranded motorist.

Trooper Wade Heiny was taken to a Hancock County hospital with bumps and bruises following Thursday's collision along westbound lanes of I-70. He was later released.

Police say Heiny was sitting in his patrol car parked in the highway's berm with his emergency lights on when a motorist rear-ended his patrol car after sliding on the snow-covered highway.

That motorist was also hospitalized with minor injuries, as were two others who struck that person's car.
