Indianapolis Mayor Postpones State of City Address

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard has postponed the annual State of the City address scheduled for Tuesday because of the deaths of two young medics in a collision involving their ambulance at a downtown Indianapolis intersection.

Ballard now plans to give the speech on March 8.

Authorities say the pair died from injuries sustained when a car collided with an ambulance at a downtown intersection early Saturday while the ambulance was not on an emergency run and had the right of way. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday for 22-year-old Cody Medley of Indianapolis and 24-year-old Tim McCormick of Greenwood at Clowes Memorial Hall on Butler University’s campus.

McCormick’s funeral is scheduled for Tuesday. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
