Indianapolis police chase ends in fiery crash

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Police in Indianapolis pulled a man from a burning car after it slammed into a utility pole while the driver was fleeing officers.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/1mr56CI ) reports the driver was uninjured.

Police Sgt. Jo Moore says the chase Friday morning began when the suspect's former girlfriend called police and said he had vandalized her car by putting oatmeal in the gas tank and trying to set the vehicle on fire.

Moore says officers later caught up with the suspect, who fled at high speed for several blocks on the city's south side before his car struck the pole and burst into flames.
