Indiana’s Career Council Holds First Meeting

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO):  Governor Mike Pence and other leaders met for the first time Monday for the Indiana Career Council.

The council aims at enhancing Indiana’s workforce training programs and reducing the unemployment rate.

The 19-member group is made up of government, education and business leaders and intends to provide greater coordination of the various agencies in providing resources and assessing the skills needed to close the gap.

Supporters say there are jobs, but many who apply lack the skills to get those positions.
