Indy Mayor Favors Using Funds for Pool Renovation

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard wants the city to finance nearly half the nearly $20 million in renovations needed for IUPUI's natatorium that has hosted many major swimming and diving events, including Olympic trials, since opening in 1982.

Reports say Ballard's chief of staff, Ryan Vaughn, says the mayor supports spending $9.5 million for the renovations by issuing bonds that would be repaid using funds from a tax-increment financing district.
