BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): A real estate developer who graduated from Indiana University's law school in 1964 has pledged $20 million for renovation and expansion of the Bloomington campus' law school building.
 
IU's Maurer School of Law says the estate gift from Lowell E. Baier will be distributed over several years. In exchange, the campus' law school building will be renamed Baier Hall.
 
The IU law library will also be renamed the Jerome Hall Law Library to honor a longtime law school professor who was a mentor to many alumni, including Baier.
 
Baier is a native of northern Indiana's Jasper County who graduated from IU in 1964 with a law degree.
 
Three years later, he formed Baier Properties Inc. That Bethesda, Maryland-based company develops warehouses, residential properties, office buildings and shopping centers.
