Judge refuses to let a Madison County man change molesting plea

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) _ An Indiana man who pleaded guilty to child molesting burst out in profanity in court when a judge denied his attempt to change his plea.

The Herald Bulletin reports  30-year-old Robert Jackson of Alexandria pleaded guilty in February to child molesting and sexual misconduct with a minor in a 2011 incident involving two girls, ages 9 and 14.

During a hearing Monday in Madison County Court in Anderson, Jackson said he was pressured into pleading guilty. When Judge David Happe rejected his attempt to withdraw his plea, Jackson responded by shouting a profanity. Happe threatened to have Jackson removed, but Jackson calmed down and was allowed to stay.

Happe sentenced Jackson to 18 years in prison.

Jackson’s attorney asked for leniency but Happe said Jackson showed no remorse.
