Kokomo Receives Award From NIPSCO

KOKOMO, Ind. (WOWO): The City of Kokomo has been recognized for their recent responses to weather emergencies. <br />
NIPSCO has awarded the city with their Luminary Award for Emergency Response. Company officials said, “The City of Kokomo and its Emergency Response Team is being recognized for its response to the devastating tornadoes that caused widespread damage on November 17, 2013. The tornado’s devastation that day was extensive, and Mayor Greg Goodnight and the City of Kokomo’s Police, Fire and EMA personnel rose to the challenge to protect life, property and respond to the needs of residents.”

As part of the award, NIPSCO will make a $1,000 contribution to Kokomo’s Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial project in the City of Kokomo’s name.
