FORT WAYNE, IND. (WOWO) — Lutheran Social Services of Indiana (LSSI) announced that its Children’s Village Early Learning Center will close on January 16, 2026.

The center, which has served over 1,500 families since opening in 2006, provided curriculum-based early learning for infants and toddlers, particularly low-income families using Indiana’s Child Care Development Fund vouchers. The closure comes after the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration suspended vouchers for infants and newly qualified families, significantly reducing funding.

LSSI CEO Angie Moellering said, “This was a very difficult decision. Children’s Village has been a place of growth, joy, and belonging for so many children and their families since opening in 2006.”

The organization emphasized that it remains strong and will continue supporting northeast Indiana families through nine programs addressing housing stability, parenting, financial literacy, education, and workforce development.

Brightpoint, the regional childcare voucher agent, is assisting families in transitioning their vouchers to other childcare programs. LSSI encourages impacted families to visit lssin.org/programs/childrens-village for updates and resources.
