Man Dies in Indianapolis When Crane Falls on Him

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ An Indianapolis Fire Department spokeswoman says a crane operator was killed when the rig tipped over and fell on him while he was attempting to move a 5,000-pound generator.
 
Department Capt. Rita Burris tells The Indianapolis Star the 25-year-old man died at the scene shortly after 11 a.m. Friday. His name was being withheld until family members could be notified.
 
Burriss says the did not use the crane's outrigging to stabilize the load when he was moving the generator. It tipped over while he was lowering the generator.
 
Burriss says the accident occurred at B-MAC Wireless, a company that installs cellular phone towers.
