Man robbed woman at knifepoint in northeast Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man was arrested in Fort Wayne on Sunday after police say he robbed a woman at knifepoint, stole her car and crashed it.

Xavier Thomas, 24, is charged with robbery, auto theft, resisting law enforcement, driving while suspended, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving, according to the Journal Gazette. If he is convicted of all crimes, he could spend more than 20 years in prison.

At about 1:40 p.m. Sunday, police were called the the Phil’s One Stop on State Boulevard. Police say Thomas demanded a woman to give him her keys. The victim said he threatened her with a knife. He then took her car, according to reports.

A police officer in the area found Thomas and tried to stop him. At some point, Thomas crashed the vehicle at Crescent Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard. After the crash, he ran from police. Police eventually caught him.
