Man sentenced to 31 years in prison

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man who admitted to beating a toddler last year and firing a gun inside a home was sentenced to 31 years in prison Friday.

The Journal Gazette reports Trumarkus C. Alexander, 28, was sentenced after pleading guilty last month to multiple charges after beating the one year-old daughter of his live-in girlfriend last November.

Alexander pleaded guilty to charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and criminal recklessness. Child molesting, battery, and misdemeanor resisting law enforcement charges were all dropped in the plea deal.
