Man Shot in Hunting Accident

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a hunting accident that happened Saturday afternoon in southwestern Steuben County.

Police say 34-year-old Nathan Whetzel of Wolcottville was shot in the face during a family hunting outing. Apparently two hunters opened fire on a deer and didn't see Whetzel on the other side of the field that the deer ran onto… the bullet caused “considerable damage” to the area below his right cheekbone.

Whetzel has been hospitalized in serious but stable condition. An investigation's under way to figure out which hunter's bullet hit him.
