Man Shot in Muncie Police Standoff Dies at Hospital

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities say a man shot during a standoff with Muncie police has died.
 
Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn says 35-year-old Shawn Michael Ruble was pronounced dead Monday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following the shooting. An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday.
 
The Star Press reports a volley of five to seven shots could be heard at the end of the standoff.
 
Ruble had been holding police at bay in a detached garage in the city.
 
Witnesses said officers could be heard ordering the man to leave the garage and surrender his weapon.
 
It wasn't clear how the standoff began.
