Marion man faces neglect charge in 2-year-old’s scalding death…

MARION, Ind. (AP) _ Police have arrested a Marion man in connection with the scalding death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter.

Marion police say 27-year-old Donald Riddle was charged Thursday with neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

Officers called to the couple’s home Wednesday night found the girl lying unresponsive on the living room floor with scalding burns on her face and torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the girl and two other children had been left with Riddle. He was located later at an acquaintance’s home in the town of Sweetser.

He was being held Thursday in the Grant County Jail in Marion. Records there did not indicate whether he has an attorney.

The girl’s identity was being withheld by authorities Thursday.
