FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  Wednesday afternoon Mayor Tom Henry held a special recognition event to congratulate the Mad Ants on winning the NBA Development League championship.

“It’s great to see Fort Wayne receive national recognition as a sports destination through the championship run by the Mad Ants. We salute them for working together, displaying sportsmanship, and demonstrating a commitment to being the very best,” said Mayor Henry. “The Mad Ants are part of a rich history of professional basketball tradition in Fort Wayne. They’re also a strong corporate partner in our community. We appreciate their involvement with kids and families by providing an entertaining style of basketball that’s enjoyed by all.”

Mad Ants representatives received a warm welcome to the Mayor’s office this afternoon by City employees, Visit Fort Wayne, and the Fort Wayne Sports Corporation. 

Mayor Henry also proclaimed today “Fort Wayne Mad Ants Day” in the City of Fort Wayne.
