Mayor: Up to 200 homes damaged by Kokomo flood…

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) _ As many as 200 homes have been damaged by recent floods in Kokomo, and the city’s major says he’s confident help will roll in once all the damaged is assessed.

Mayor Greg Goodnight tells WTHR about a dozen homes have been condemned because of water damage but that the complete toll still isn’t known.

The flooding occurred after heavy rains sent the Wildcat Creek to its highest flood level on record. Many residents took to the streets in canoes, and some people had to be rescued from their vehicles.

The creek has receded, but Howard County officials were closely watching it Wednesday after another round of steady rainfall.
