Mercer County police to host drug take back event

MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO): Mercer County (Ohio) police are hosting a drug take back event.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office will host a drug take back event as part of the National Drug Take Back Initiative, according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

Police will work with Mercer Health and the Coldwater Exempted Village School System for the event. The public will be able to bring their expired, unwanted or unused medications to Coldwater High School at 310 North Second Street from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 22.

So far this year, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office has collected about 200 pounds of drugs from the Drug Drop Box located at the Sheriff’s Office and from take back events. The drop box in the sheriff’s office is available 24 hours a day.

Liquids and needles will not be accepted during the event.
