A long-standing Fort Wayne tradition honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. returns this weekend.

Pilgrim Baptist Church and Plymouth Congregational Church will present “We Are the Dream: A Community Commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” on Sunday, Jan. 18, beginning at 4 p.m.

The event features a dramatic presentation of poetry, music and the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, with participation from local speakers, musicians and the choral group Heartland Sings. Organizers say the commemoration celebrates Dr. King’s message of justice, truth and unity.

The program is free and open to the public and will be held at Pilgrim Baptist Church, located at 1331 Gay Street in Fort Wayne. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
