New Laws for Moped Drivers Take Effect Jan. 1st

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): New laws will be in place for moped drivers, starting January 1st, 2015.

Moped and low-speed scooter owners will need an Indiana ID card, registration, license plate, and to pass a street sign test at the BMV office.

According to our Partners in News at 21Alive, the new minimum speed will increase to 35 mph.

Drivers 18+ are not required to wear a helmet or have insurance. Low-speed scooters also must possess a different colored license plate so police can easily identify them.
