No Special Election After All for Woodburn Mayoral Race

WOODBURN, Ind. (WOWO): There won't be a special election in the Woodburn mayoral race after all.

That's because an Allen County judge has certified Ryan Reichhart as the Democratic Party nominee for Woodburn mayor.

Mayor Richard Hoeppner won the May 5th primary by 12 votes, but withdrew as a candidate last week. Hoeppner has not commented on why he is withdrawing

Reichhart challenged the primary because he claims he saw registered Republicans voting for Hoeppner.

Reichhart told the Journal-Gazette that Hoeppner's decision to withdraw took him by surprise, but says he's ready to start his campaign against Republican Joseph Kelsey.
