Northwest Ohio Sheriffs Uniting Against Pot in Ohio

PAULDING, Ohio. (WOWO): 21 Northwest Ohio Sheriffs are saying no to Marijuana in Ohio. Those sheriff's are formally opposing efforts to pass Issue 3 in Ohio – an effort to legalize marijuana use in their state.

Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers tells WOWO News its not just criminal activity.  In Colorado, it's also impacting traffic…by the numbers, marijuana impairment is more risk than a drunk driving. “They've plummeted down to relatively nothing compared to drug induced driving offenses.” Landers tells WOWO News. “You throw in the work-related issues. People think they can smoke a joint before work maybe and now they're running equipment and machines.”

The financial windfall won't compare to the new challenges law enforcement will be forced to deal with.
