FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A program geared toward feeding schoolkids in need could be slashed in a new funding bill, and thousands of students in Fort Wayne could be affected.

Indiana US Rep. Todd Rokita has introduced a bill that would restrict eligibility requirements to the program, which offers free and reduced-price lunches at schools across the country.

Our partners in news at 21Alive report that thousands of Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) students could lose their lunches, and all of the participating families would have to re-apply for benefits anyway.

The bill could cut the size of the program, impacting more than three million students nationwide.
