NW Indiana Group Getting ‘Christmas Story’ Statue

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP): The “triple-dog dare” flagpole scene from the movie A Christmas Story” has inspired a statue being installed in northwestern Indiana. The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority in Hammond will install a bronze statue of the character getting his tongue stuck to a flag pole. The 1983 movie was inspired by the stories of Hammond native Jean Shepherd.
