Ohio police to focus on teen driving

VAN WERT, Ohio (WOWO): Teen drivers remain one of Ohio’s most “at-risk” groups.

That’s why the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be focusing on reaching out to teens during National Teen Driving Safety Week, October 16th thru 22nd.

Post Commander Timothy Grigsby says police are urging parents to set “firm rules” for driving, like speed limits, wearing seat belts, and never driving while intoxicated.

The OSHP says between 2013 and 2015, Ohio teens were involved in 15% of crashes statewide, and responsible for 73% of them. Those crashes led to 271 deaths and more than 40,000 injuries.
