One Killed in Huntertown Crash

HUNTERTOWN, Ind. (WOWO): Authorities say a man has died after the van he was driving crashed into a retention pond along a highway in Huntertown.

Allen County sheriff's Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel says a woman called 911 early Thursday saying that she was following a co-worker's van when it suddenly crossed the median of Indiana 3 and drove into the pond in front of a church.

Tinkel says that emergency crews were able to reach the man but he was likely underwater for about 15 minutes. The man was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The van with logos for a janitorial company was almost completely submerged after the crash.

Tinkel says it is unclear what caused the crash.
