One Person In Life-Threatening Condition Following Morning Shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — A 75-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting Monday morning on Fort Wayne’s northeast side that left one person in life-threatening condition.

Fort Wayne police were called to a reported shooting at approximately 9:35 a.m. near the intersection of Lake and Laverne avenues, across from the Fort Wayne Catholic Cemetery. Officers found a victim at that location and initially reported the injuries as non-life-threatening.

Authorities subsequently updated the victim’s condition to life-threatening.

FWPD said Richard Krueckeberg, 75, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery.

The victim and suspect were reported to have known to each other and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains ongoing.
