Parents of 15-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot By Police Plan Lawsuit

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ An attorney for the parents of a 15-year-old carjacking suspect fatally shot by Indianapolis police says the family plans to sue the city over the youth's death.

Jamon Hicks with Douglas Hicks Law of Beverly Hills, California, plans to file a tort claim Thursday with the city of Indianapolis over Andre Green's Aug. 9 death.

Tort claims are precursors to possible lawsuits.

Hicks says Green's parents plan a federal lawsuit alleging improper use of deadly force and civil rights violations.

Police have said three officers who chased the carjacking suspect fatally shot Green because they feared for their lives when he accelerated a stolen car toward them.

Hicks says he's found six witnesses who will contradict the police version of the black teen's killing.
